The process of deciding what college to attend, is one of the most difficult tasks that one can have in their lives. There are so many variables in choosing the right school, the education, sports, size, denomination. Throughout all the different classes students will be learning new material that is in depth with the major that they are in. Understanding daily information is important for each student so that they can learn new information that is based on the previous lessons. Asking questions and getting valuable feedback helps students learn the material better because it gives the student to understand it in more specific words and in a less pressured environment. Also, students have more opportunities to do internships and special projects for various professors. At bigger universities, there would not be so many chances to do these because upperclassmen and graduate students usually obtain these roles. In the classroom, big parts of understanding the topic and participating are both asking questions and answering them. By having smaller classes, students aren’t worried about talking in front of hundreds and hundreds of students. Being able to talk to my teacher alone is a huge factor for me. When talking to them they turn their focus just to you and explain the information in a different way so I can understand it. All my teachers are very understanding and know me well in just one semester of school. I feel like I can always ask my teachers about any of my studies, this gives me confidence in what I’m

I am able to get involved in class and get one on one time if I don't get something that we are going over. Every teacher makes sure to tell me that there office hours and where to find them if not in the classroom. Personally it helps not having to much people in the class to interrupt the teacher and the teacher has more time to lecture about the topic. And with smaller classes I get to meet people and get to know them better as well as we get to share ideas as a ground and get to discuss things more closely.…

I chose to attend the University of Central Oklahoma because I loved the area, and I felt that this college has a great atmosphere. It feels as if any freshman can come onto this campus, and adapt themselves within the first few minutes of being here. I find it very convenient that there is a vast majority of activities and clubs to get involved in, so no one feels like an outsider. The whole environment just rubs off on you in a good way. It's everything I wanted when I pictured living on a college campus.…

The main reason I attended St. Thomas University my freshman year was due to the fact that it was a free education. I can't afford college unless I earn scholarships to pay my way through school. My family doesn't have the money to send me off to out of state or private schools so I worked hard to earn the money on my own. The scholarship I earned at St. Thomas University was both academic and athletic.…

People tend to work better in smaller classes because there isn’t as much talking and distractions from other students. Some students actually want to pay attention in class so that they know they understand the lesson but they can’t because they are distracted and can’t hear the teacher. The teachers always asks us if we have any questions but maybe people are scared of speaking out in front of everyone so they…

These colleges were chose by how I feel will impact my life after college. The University of Nebraska Omaha was my safe in state choice, Colorado State University was my dream college that was out of state, and my most realistic choice was Kansas State University. The University of Nebraska Lincoln is a safe choice because, I would only be an hour away from home, and the tuition price is more reasonable being priced at $19,297. Yet Colorado State University would be my dream college since Colorado is in the top five colleges for veterinary medicine, and the class size seems to be more on the smaller side. Kansas State University would be my most realistic college since the requirements of having a 21 Act and anything over a 980 Sat would be easy enough to succeed in, and my other reason is that the distance from home is only 97.8 miles which is close to two hours.…

At Portland State, 51.7% of the classes contain 20 to 49 students (Portland State University). On the other hand, Harvard “has 74 percent of its classes with fewer than 20 students” (Harvard University). Over the past few years at Southridge High School, I found out that I learn best in a classroom that contains a variety of students to interact with because I love to hear numerous ideas. Portland State presents me the opportunity to interact with a variety of students due to its class size. In contrast, Harvard does not give me the opportunity to interact with a variety of students because their class sizes are smaller than Portland State.…

Any college student who has applied for federal financial aid would testify that it is a very long and complicated process. The process is even more complicated, however, for homeless students applying for financial aid. Not only do these students have to fill out the normal forms, but also provide documentation of their homelessness annually. This issue is addressed in the article “Senator Wants to Help Homeless Students, Who are ‘Taking Out Loans for Survival’” which was featured in the Washington Post on November 12, 2015. The author of the article, Danielle Douglas-Gabriel, writes about the proposition of a bill by Senator Patty Murray of Washington.…
