Even though it grants amnesty to those that enter the US in accordance to the terms of the new contract requirement, which has the potential to be problematic, the US immigration reform is better than the previously more strict immigration policy. The US immigration reform is better because it decreases the chances of people trying more dangerous methods to enter the US, the more lenient influx of workers will help stimulate the economy, and it allows for immigrants to work in the US without Americans having to worry about the unemployment rate skyrocketing. And rather than shut out our neighbors the immigration reform opens up our border for more positive relations.

They also represent a fourth of all doctorates and over a third being in science, math, computer science and engineering (marketwatch). This range of education fills out the bell curve standard of education that the US seems to have. There is also the possiblity that they may develop cutting-edge technologies and companies, due to their new lives and educational opportunities. This is a great possibility because the reform offers citizenship to foreign science and math graduates after graduation (whitehouse.gov). This promotes education in a way that invites immigration and innovation. The foreign population also accounts for 24% of patents, twice their share of eh population (as-coa.org). Immigrants also boost earnings for American workers by increasing the demand for local consumer goods. Furthermore, immigration reform legislation like the DREAM Act reduces the deficit.
