For example, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) established partnerships with the help from the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 added Section 287(g). In turn, this allows the Director of ICE to enter agreements with SLTT law enforcement agencies. Agents at the center also placed 4,915 detainers on aliens suspected of immigration violations, managed more than 283,900 National Crime Information Center system records of Criminal Warrants generated by ICE. Law Enforcement Specialists and Deportation Officers at the center confirmed 4,035 National Crime Information Center matches, and Law Enforcement Specialists and Deportation Officers at the center responded to over 112,000 calls from law enforcement officers.
