The U.S. Declaration of Independence is undeniably an impressive document because it talks about timeless themes, it is not hypocritical, and it concisely states the will and desires of the people. The text begins talking about the right people have to end ties and political relations with an authoritarian rule which they do not longer agree with. In my opinion, this was the best way to start the declaration because it basically synthesizes what the rest of the document will be about and why the colonists thought that what they were doing, which some considered treason, was correct and in no way a betrayal.

In Thomas Jefferson’s own words, “The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government.” The king’s despotic behavior proved that he was selfish and did not care about his subjects’ well-being. The process of independence is the only reasonable choice that comes to mind after reading the extensive list of oppressive acts that The Crown perpetuated against the colonies. Among these acts are:
“He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.”
“For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent…”
“He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.”
These three statements are the ones that drove me to agree with the colonists in their fight for freedom and respect what they stood for. The U.S. Declaration of Independence serves its purpose impeccably. The conciseness of the document alone is proof that you do not need to elongate your works to share your ideas
