The Quality and Transparency of Hospital Care To provide the best health care the United States, health care system is continuously undergoing through many changes in the system in order to increase the quality and transparency of the health care system. For this assignment, we needed to visit Leap Frog Group website to choose a city and a hospital in order to understand the quality rating of that hospitals. I chose the city college station because it is my hometown and the hospital that I chose to examine was CHI St. Joseph Health Regional-Bryan. Joseph Health Regional hospital, under the category of inpatient care management was readmissions for common acute conditions. The variable, readmissions for common acute conditions was surveyed by the Leap Frog Group and rates calculated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to evaluate how much cares for the patients does this hospital take. Under this survey the Leap Frog Group wanted to make sure that before leaving the hospital the hospital workers plan for a follow-up check-ups so that the patients does to return to the hospital under the same condition as before. In order to make sure if CHI St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital was following all the rules to prevent readmission of the same patient under same condition, they asked 30-day readmission rates of this hospital. They wanted a precise rate of readmissions for common acute conditions so in the survey they asked for six common acute conditions which were heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), and total hip/total knee replacement. According to the survey by the Leap Frog Group, in 30 days the number patients under heart attack were 300, under heart failure were 870, under pneumonia were 759, under chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were 581, under coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) were 161, and under total hip/total knee replacement were 498. …show more content…
I would go to this hospital for minor conditions because under inpatient care management, their steps to avoid harm rate is very good. They seemed to follow the procedure to avoid harms to the patient. They have very good rates for the effective leadership to prevent errors. They also scored high in the working as a group, train to improve safety, keep the track of records, and enough qualified nurse to prevent
