National Honor Society Application Essay For any human to exhibit qualities throughout their lifestyle, one must transcend in certain aspects of their nature. Everyone is born with a different character or personality and not everyone exceeds in all of the same categories, however; I would place myself among the four characteristics of scholarship, leadership, service, and outstanding character as some of the qualities where I excel. I have always been a very studious person, and I take pride in my achievements in the classroom. I was also raised to believe that my best is an A, so when I got my first B it was not something taken lightly. I try to remember that if you put your mind to something, then you can accomplish it, which reminds me of the quote by Mike Farrell, “If you try to do your best there is no failure.”…

There are few in the world that wish to make change and actively work towards that dream, yet I see myself as one of those few people. In our community and state there are plentiful minds that have amazing abilities, but I see myself to be the best candidate to be accepted at ISU. The key reasons for today's opinion involve a few main facts about myself: My accomplishments, my life experience, and my mission statement for my future. For most people, school is about staying on top of your class, making perfect grades, and then moving on to the next thing, with little thought of the past or future. Now I’m not here to criticize others and their methods, but to me, that all sounds like a big waste of time. Good grades are great and all, but if that’s the extent of school, then I’d rather just learn everything on my own time. I’m in it for the knowledge learned and the experiences gained; the kinds of things that will help you to react in the best way to what life has to throw at you. The best way I can see to gain this kind of practical experience and knowledge is to surround myself with other people with the same idea as me, much like the Engineering Honors program will…

WHY I WANT TO JOIN THE HONORS PROGRAM Alighting from a Boeing 747 jetliner on the JFK tarmac on Thursday evening, April 28, 2016, I walked into what could be called a new page in my life story—a new start. Through all of my years of school I lived by the idea that school is mandatory, and if I had to be there I was going to make the most of it, and if I put in the hard work now, it will pay off later. Which is exactly what is happening for me with scholarships. I earned good grades and took on as many extracurricular activities as I could handle, and now I am a very competitive candidate. I am captain of the cross-country and track teams, a track state medalist, an AP Scholar, a member of the theater department, mock trial club, National Honors Society, and senior editor of the yearbook. Through all of these activities and events I was able to connect with so many people that helped shape me into the person I am today.…
