UIU Personal Statement

Having attending two colleges, I know what is important to look for in colleges. My past has allowed me to know what factors will truly influence success. Not only is education important, but the educators play a key role in the success of students. The student to faculty ratio still allows for a relationship with faculty members despite the large population. Seeing the internship opportunities, resources provided, as well as the campus itself, I feel assurance that this is a place where I belong, a place where I will always be busy but also enjoy what I am doing and get the help I need. I am familiar with the InSPIRE program from my internship, and I am highly interested in participating in it to further increase awareness of green energy to the youth. …show more content…
I am happy that there are endless opportunities to prove leadership through community service activities. As for my professional goals, the reputation UIUC holds encourages me to represent myself and the school in the best way possible and make many connections with the community during my time there. Unlike many schools, UIUC offers a lot of support for those interested in industrial/organizational psychology, ranging from research opportunities like working with the YEDI Lab, to the faculty support, to connecting with other students in Psi Chi. Having such a reputable PhD program to look up to, I know I will be able to build long-term relations within my

The sciences have been central to my life ever since I was a child. My mother is a veterinarian and my father a mechanical engineer. Both of my parents attended Tuskegee University and always pushed for me to consider HBCU’s for my education. STEM careers and education are promoted heavily in Huntsville, my hometown, as major tech companies and government entities such as NASA and Missile Defense are located there. I ventured out my senior year and took courses dealing with social sciences, both in my high school and at a nearby university.…

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. My dad and sister are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did provides us with a unique bond. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, extremely strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it worthwhile. Not only will I be able to care for others with a Pharm.…

I hope to gain an exemplary foundational career experience from the EKU REU program. I was initially attracted to this program because the theme of disturbance ecology complements my own research interests in anthropogenic influence and conservation biology. Through individual research this summer and the research of others, I hope to learn more about the impact of human activity on landscapes, how to approach restoration, and what sustainable and effective scientific study looks like. I am excited to live in Kentucky and learn about its ecology and sociology, having never been to the area before. In addition, I hope to gain practical field and laboratory research skills at Lilley Cornett Woods old-growth forest ecosystem and Maywoods Environmental…

Personal Statement Almost everyone had a rod in hand as they walked through the main street headed for the pier or docks to try and reel in a tasty morsel for dinner. In my small fishing village surrounded by serene mountains and lush waters, I grew up distant from many of life’s amenities and creature comforts. Surrounded by family and relatives, I lived in a capsule of love. Although I have been an MU Tiger fan for years, my passion for Mizzou truly began when I attended the High School Mini Medical School for a week last summer. Living in the dorms, receiving hands-on training in several medical situations, as well as just getting a glimpse of what student life is like at MU was amazing. The beautiful campus, welcoming atmosphere, and everything that I learned regarding Mizzou while staying there only served to increase my desire to attend. The university offers me everything I am looking for in a college and more: an impressive nursing program, a large and diverse population of students, a phenomenal recreation center, and NCAA athletics to be involved in and excited about! Being from Kansas City, I also love…

True and significant life is found in Jesus Christ and because of my firm conviction of this it has been my primary objective to point people to Jesus. Being persuaded that Christ wants Christians and especially those who take leadership roles to minister to the needs of others, I have ordered my life to conform to that conviction. Ultimately, Jesus desires that each Christian serves him by serving others; this is accomplished in a variety of ways – feeding those who are hungry, teaching everyone the life saving Gospel, and by leading in a way that reflects the glory of Christ. It has been my immense pleasure to have had the opportunity to preach God’s Word to thousands of people over the past fifteen years. It is my sincere passion to see people embrace Christ Jesus as their Lord and savior and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds through the Word of God.…

Science has always been a part of my life, not just in the way that every science teacher says science is life, but the actual study of science. When I was young my mother, a science teacher, took it upon herself to take every opportunity possible to teach me something about the way the world worked, whether it was the way ingredients went together and interacted to form the texture of playdough or why adding baking soda to cake batter made it rise. either way, I was inundated with chemical reactions and techniques before I even knew there was a word for it and this inundation created an undeniable curiosity. Before entering high school, I had an undeterrable drive to know why, why something happened, why it worked, why it was important. It wasn’t until I walked into my first international baccalaureate chemistry course, to the mission impossible soundtrack no less, that I realized I had always possessed the tools to answer these questions, chemistry had always been a part of my life.…
