UDHR Essay: Health Related Implications

UDHR Essay I personally believe the first article does not have any explicit or implicit health related implications. This Is because the first article talks about how humans are born free and have equal rights, which access to health care is not one of the basic human rights identified in the U.S. constitution. Some of the basic rights listed in the constitution include, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, as well as the right to peacefully assembly and petition, but nothing health care related is mentioned when discussing basic human rights. However, some of the articles listed do have health related implications such as article three, which states everyone has the right to life which implicitly implies the need for an individual to have access to health care. Although article three does not directly talk about health, indirectly it suggests people need to be healthy in order to have the basic right of life. …show more content…
This article also does not directly talk about humans need for health care, but it does imply that humans should not be exposed to inhuman acts that could possibly jeopardize their physical being. Cruel acts such as torture could seriously harm someone’s physical and mental health and through the article it is implied that torturous acts should not occur and should be avoided for mental and physical health reasons. Additionally, article six has indirect health related implications. Article six does not directly say anything about human health specifically, but it does say that humans should be recognized as a person before the law. This can be interpreted to mean people should be identified for their human needs such as access to health care before the law which may not cover their basic human health
