My experience as the lead Spanish-English interpreter at the UCSD Student-Run Free Clinic provided me with the opportunity of being practicing my leadership skills in team working toward a common objective. Here, I was able to multitask from interpreting to a medical student or physician and a patient, to jumping to assist another patient and medical student with interpretation. I was also in charge of checking-in patients, organizing the tasks of the other volunteer interpreters, helping the pharmacy staff and and the patient-assistance volunteers with interpretations when needed, as well as to checking the patient assistance hotline, and calling patients when needed.
