UCLA And Cal Poly: A Comparative Study

Decent Essays
UCLA and Cal Poly are both great schools. I know this because my mom went to UCLA, and my dad went to Cal Poly Pomona. I would really love to be accepted into either one of these schools, but first we should see which is better for me. I would love to focus my studies in science and/or art. My research will show how different these schools really are and which would be a better choice for me. I will compare their cost, academics and rankings.

Let’s begin with cost. UCLA costs $12,816 for a year if you live off campus, but Cal Poly costs $9,876 to live off campus as well. Although UCLA is more expensive, I do live around 2 miles from UCLA so this would be good. Since I live around 40 miles from Cal Poly, it would be a little more expensive

The next important factor on my list is campus life. There are all kinds of facilities the college provides, and clubs I can join which need to be considered as well. Also I want to take into account the size and diversity of these schools. The University of Missouri has about 30,000 students compared to the University of Kansas’s 22,000 students. Both schools have a very diverse student body which will help me meet new people from a lot of different backgrounds.…

For those who are familiar with the world of baseball, it is common knowledge that a pitcher should have a protective L-screen in front of them in order to prevent possible injury. The case of Shawn Bukowski vs. Clarkson University et al. showcases a situation where a pitcher was struck in the face by a line drive during a practice session; this can be attributed to the absence of an L-screen. Shawn Bukowski sued his university and head coach James Kane for damages related to his injury; the results of this case and the reasoning for it is quite interesting. I will discuss the key information regarding this case, the different factors that relate to the outcome, and how the case could have played out differently if the NCAA had better rules…

Supplemental Questions 1) Coming from a low-income, Mexican-American family and being a first generation college student, I have struggled to pay for tuition and fees in the past. In high school, I was never told what kinds of financial aid options were available, yet alone how to apply for loans and how they operated. This prompted me to research the vast amount of financial aid offered here at Diablo Valley College. Not only do I know about general financial aid information, but I can provide the necessary assistance to students who either need information or be navigated through the FAFSA.…

The United States was founded upon the idea of liberty, justice, and the premise that “all men are created equal”. This idea was not always reflected in the reality of daily life in America. If you were an African American during these times, you had little rights. The African Americans were mostly slaves, but even the freed ones had little respect. Slaves were treated worst then animals, while freed slaves were treated as a third race among the blacks and whites.…

In freshman year I moved out of the school district with my mother, my brother, and my mother's boyfriend while my father moved into my old house. I was now left with two options: I could either continue to enroll in school at Massabesic High School or I could transfer to Kennebunk High School. See, my mother was just going to drive me to my existing bus stop every morning if I stayed at Massabesic but changing schools was starting to peak my interest. I started doing some research on both schools, making a compare and contrast chart while my knowledge grew. I looked at academics, statistics, student-to-teacher ratio and the whole nine-yards.…

There are many similarities and differences found when comparing Florida State University and University of Central Florida. Despite having these differences, FSU is an overall better college. There are countless subjects to choose when comparing these schools, but the main topics I chose to focus on were the schooling overall, the people, activities, and my career. Indifference, FSU overall is statistically better. FSU is a slightly larger school with 60,767 students vs 41,226 students, given it's a larger school it's acceptance rate is much higher than UCF with a 55.4% versus 49.6%.…

UF also has many opportunities such as jobs, honor programs in fact more than 3,400 UF students participate in these honor programs they also have many cultural and art opportunities.
