UCF Community: An Event That Changed My Life

Improved Essays
When I was 6 years old an event occurred that changed my life. On September 8, 2005 my mother passed away from a severe case of pneumonia. My parents were divorced at the time and I would switch from my mother’s house to my father’s house on certain days and weeks. However, I spent the majority of my time living with my mom and my older sister, Casie. Once my mother died, I moved in with my father and my sister moved to Oklahoma to live with her father. I always felt ostracized from my friends considering they would always have two parents with them for events, or they could go shopping with their moms, and have a fellow female as a model. Another thing that was hard for me was not being able to see my sister. My sister was my best friend as a child and would always help me and be there for me no matter what. Without her and her guidance I grew very lonely and confused. Growing up, especially through my developing teenage years, was very difficult for me without a mother …show more content…
If I have a goal in mind, I will be 100% persistent in reaching that goal. I do however believe in being completely fair to others, and I will never hurt or deceive another in order to make myself better off. I care about other people a lot, and would go out of my way to help someone in need, or someone I care about. I tend to be extremely open minded, and am always accepting and open to the opinions, ideals, and practices of others. I appreciate all cultures, religions, and social or political ideologies. Everyone’s way of thinking is different and I respect that, and even find it very interesting. I enjoy listening to people and figuring out how they work and think. I’m very outgoing and love to get involved, and would love to explore all the opportunities UCF has to offer. I believe UCF would help me thrive as a person and as a

As I first evaluated with whom I had least and most in common attributes within my life, I knew immediately that the answers were my best friend and my older sister. My best friend, Shea, and I have been inseparable since the fifth grade and have vast similarities. Meanwhile, my older sister, Karissa, and I are polar opposites. Once making this decision, I set out to find a time to interview the both of them. For the interview, I decided to maintain aspects that showcase the most similarities and differences between myself, Shea, and Karissa.…

I know you are probably tired of the redundancies of these communications, but I feel like this is the only clear and effective way to get my feelings across to you these days. We both know these past few months have been tumultuous. If someone would have told me back in our UCF days that our friendship would be how it is now, I would’ve honestly laughed in their face and called them crazy. Out of all my friendships that I made in college, there were three that I would’ve bet my life on because I knew that they would be a lifelong friendship.…

If I had to start anywhere with my story; with who I am, I would have to start with my dad’s imprisonment. His incarceration is the catalyst to what changed my whole life completely. As a result of his imprisonment, my parents got a divorce and I had to live with my grandmother. In a sense, I nevermore saw my dad and I barely saw my mother because she worked late. Every person in this world has an individual creativity built within them. My individual creativity personally took me a while to uncover, I only recently unearthed my true creativity during my junior year. I express my creativity through makeup, poetry, painting, drawing and redecorating my surroundings such as my room which I like to think of as my sanctuary because it’s the only place I can disconnect myself from everything, focus on myself and reflect on my days. Makeup is my main outlet of expression since that’s the one that’s in the spotlight and is a quote on quote paraded for the public eye to see when used correctly and minimally to enhance ones beauty it makes a person look more presentable and put together. I was inspired to write…
