The era of slavery is considered as one of the darkest times in our history and as something that does not exist in the present day. Unfortunately, it exists on an even greater scale than before. Human trafficking is an illegal trade or sale of human beings for sexual exploitation or forced labor through abduction (Facts on Human Trafficking and Sex Slavery). Young women and girls are more prone to be victimized than any other age. Economic, political, and social instability cause citizens to feel miserable and hopeless where their only choice is to look for help from outside source. Although, it seems that women have equal rights in America, many young women and girls are still silently abused, looked down upon and offered little opportunity to move upward in mobility. With little value placed upon them, girls become desperate for attention and look for faster route to money and success, which makes them more vulnerable to trafficking. Government and the society should change the way women are treated and spread positive image of them so they are more valued in their …show more content…
Millions of people, including children fall victim to this crime each year. It is also a crime that does not discriminate; the victims can be of any race, ethnicity, age or gender. However, most victims are women and children. The human trafficking is driven by economic, political, and social instability, which makes their citizens miserable, and to the point that they look for help hopelessly. The injustice in the law enforcement and high qualifications for the services discourage the victims from speaking and getting help. As a country that stands for life and liberty, the U.S. must take actions towards this arising
