I think that Tyrone Briggs might be a victim of false identification for two reasons. The first reason is that the police could not find any material evidence that could prove Tyrone’s guilt. The second reason is that there is eyewitness form several victims which could lead to inaccurate information. The police had some descriptions but the information that they have was not complete to press charges against Tyrone Briggs. According to an eyewitness evidence provided by Wells and other writers, Eyewitness accounts can be affected by exposure to misleading questions, a system variable. (Wells 582) This statement show that according certain questions asked for identification, the results can be inaccurate. In this case, Briggs had to types of descriptions that led to misinformation.

The first major factor is the general information about the attacker. The description was within a short period of time after the incident. Even though, some of the description of the photos may not be accurate, the information at hand may be important in the investigation. Some things that the witness have not mentioned with details may become critical in determining if Tyrone is the attacker or not. Even though, the five witnesses gave general description about their attackers, the information about them make the witnesses reliable. The second major factor is the photo lineup. Everyone in the lineup had a similar mole as Tyrone because the police did not want him to stand out. All of five victims looked at the photo lineup and selected Tyrone’s picture.
