Tyra Banks: America's Next Top Model

Tyra Banks started modeling during her high school years, which led her to become internationally known. With her mother being by her side and being her manager, she wanted her daughter to create a tremendous image by promoting her in the best way possible. Tyra Banks eventually became the first African American to be established on GQ Magazine, Victoria Secret and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. With Tyra being able to accomplish these goals, it allowed her to start creating her personal brand by changing the modeling industry as a whole. When Tyra began to gain weight, certain agencies didn’t want to work with her anymore. Tyra’s mother decided that they would go and eat pizza and would create a list of agencies that would accommodate her. Her mother told her to work with what she had and don’t let anyone change her. Tyra Banks’ mother also taught her to view herself as a visionary. As years went by, Tyra Banks decided to go into films and into the small screen industry that would allow her to expand herself. In addition, people need to know how they want people to remember them. By doing this a person needs to define the traits that describe themselves, which can help them create a better understanding of the strategy that he or she wants. Furthermore, identifying his or her identity, such as being independently innovative or deliberately collaborative (Ulrich & Smallwood) can help further the process on identifying his or herself. Moreover, creating a statement that the individual wants to be remembered for and what he or she is trying to accomplish is a tremendous idea on leadership branding.
