Typing Errors In College

Decent Essays
When typing an essay, I have become accustomed to revising it after it is completed in order to improve its quality. Unless there are any noticeable spelling or typing errors, I do not revise my work until it is completed. Once it is done, I read through it a few times as I tend to make plenty of simple errors. One of those readings include me reading my essay out loud to myself in order to check if there are any awkward sentences that I would not normally say out loud or in a conversation. Often, I may go onto a paper rater website to give me some ideas of what I need to fix; whether it be vocabulary, or transitional statements. However, I do not always take what it says to heart as it simply a program and does not have the intellectual human

With my process of writing I try to take a lot more time typing and figuring out what I’m going to write and do it so I don't have to revise as much. I really try to not make mistakes so I save time revising and can move on to whatever I need to do. For example this project I've thought about what I want to type to minimize my revision…

In chapter one of “Patterns for College Writing” Mrs. Kirszner discusses how to be a critical reader. One of the key things discussed in this chapter is how to annotate a text. It shows a few specific examples, encouraging students to develop skills in annotation. Within these examples, I found several different steps that I had never heard of before. Along with these steps, I also discovered a few that I had already involved in my studying.…

I remember the first time I wrote an essay that was being graded at the college level. This was in my junior year when I took AP Language and Composition, our first essay was a rhetorical analysis essay from a very old excerpt that used old english and was very hard to read. When I first started reading the passage I started to get nervous because I didn't understand what the text was saying but then I started to annotate and the passage began to make sense. I found many rhetorical strategies that the author used and I then began to outline the essay in my head.…

Many times, reviewing your work can seem tiring, tedious, or even overwhelming. You have done so much work already and between the pre-writing, research, and actual composition of your essay it can feel as if it is all you can do to glance over your work before it’s time to turn it in. But that’s a mistake. Quite often you can get a better grade simply by taking the time to review your work.…

After reading my first writing project I noticed two things, first I could improve some sentences and go more into detail with some topics. I could fix some sentences to have the essay flow better for anyone reading it. I felt as if I jump from one sentence to another and left out some details that would be helpful to the reader. At the points where I highlighted some confusion, I will go back and fix them. I didn't hear any serious errors that needed to be fixed, but found spots where the paper could be improved.…

I set goals at the beginning of this class - goals I wanted to achieve by the end of this semester. After looking back at the sheet of paper where these goals were written on, I realized that they had all been accomplished. Also, after reviewing the essays I wrote before, I noticed that the most recent essays had gotten better and more improved. My goals created at the beginning of this semester when this class began were to improve my vocabulary and mechanics, learn to use citations, stay on focus, and have fun, rather than looking at writing essays as a school assignment that has to be done. Some skills have improved more than others, but in an overall outlook, all the skills I wanted to improve on had gotten noticeably better.…

By doing this I can improve my paper and make corrections. It also brings ideas in my head and helps me with my writing. After reviewing my ideas and deciding exactly what the best approach would be to address the given prompt, I write a rough draft, then I start typing my final copy. As I am typing my final draft I revise sentences, correct spelling and grammar, and occasionally add or take away a sentence. Once my essay is completely written, I use the spelling and grammar check and fix mistakes that it may find. I then print my essay out and let a couple people read it and fix any mistakes they find. I ask them for suggestions on how to combine sentences and have a better variety of sentences.…

The writing process is different and unique to all individuals; many people follow the ideal steps of prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing as opposed to others taking shortcuts, skipping steps, and going straight to editing. The writing process is the course one takes to get from prewriting to the publication of their essay; since everyone is a different, their writing process will also be different. For me, I believe that following the ideal writing process steps are a tremendous help to organizing my essay and spacing out the work throughout the time the assignment is assigned. To begin writing an essay I must first prewrite; to prewrite is to brainstorm ideas from the prompt by outlining, diagramming, clusterings, or…

Considering I have been a university student on and off for the last decade, I believe I have become complacent about my academic literacy skills. I earn good grades, in my opinion, and I often receive positive feedback on my academic writing style and my referencing. Whilst I have received some criticisms, it has never occurred to me to analyse my academic literacy skills and make a point of identifying my weaknesses and improving upon them. As my degree progresses, I increasingly need to be able to express myself confidently and clearly and I cannot do that sufficiently until I have refined my writing skills (Grellier & Goerke, 2014, p. 159). Using online proofreading tools was a useful way for me to identify the deficits in my writing style…

When I was young I was never the best at reading even though my parents owned many books and magazines that they read on a daily basis. My mother enjoyed reading her gossip magazines that she would receive in the mail once a month and my father had a whole bookshelf full of history books. My parents would always encourage me to read the books I would check out at the school library to improve my reading and writing but that advice usually went in through one ear and out the other. The only books I would really attempt to read had to be humorous or horrifying, my favorites were the Goosebumps collection. I loved reading these books alone in my room where I couldn’t be sidetracked by all the commotion that went on in my house.…
