Network hardware is the physical equipment that is required to allow devices to transmit data to another device. The devices have the ability to transfer over many types of media, but there are only two basic types of transmission. We first have the broadcast transmission which transfers the same messages to multiple recipients. Then there is point-to-point links that establishes a connection between two individual 's devices for data transmission. Networks rely on these two types of transmission for everyday networking.
A personal area network is to "communicate between two or more devices. PAN networks can be used between devices owned by two different parties, or between two devices owned by one person" (Eric Cole). An example of this would be a keyboard paired to a computer. The most common form of a personal area network is Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a technology that has greatly increased are mobility when using devices that are in a close vicinity of each other. They have become the common form for wireless communication between mice, keyboards, headsets, medical devices, and other handheld devices. "Bluetooth is a method for data communication that uses short-range radio links to replace cables between computers and their connected units" (Gunasekaran, 90). A Bluetooth network can usually only support a few

A WANs "distances can range from a network connecting multiple buildings on a corporate or college campus to satellite links connecting offices in different countries" (David Delony). The largest WAN is the internet which is a collection of MANs and LANs around the world. A smaller scale WAN that would be used is the business world is connecting multiple offices. For instance your office in California, Texas and New York. WANs can either be supported by a physical media such as Ethernet, or more commonly fiber. However, the most common medium, especially for large distances is

These are designed for the typical users to complete normal work, normally in the school’s network they will have limitations on student accounts, for example, there are many sites that they cannot access, and their computer will only hold the essential applications (software), etc. It is very common to see Windows operating system installed in these workstations however they might not be up to date as it can be costly, hence they would use older versions of windows operating system. • Interconnection devices are a physical piece of hardware used to connect the users to a network they are connected to, some examples of these interconnection devices are: o Routers – These devices uses protocols such as ICMP (Internet Control Message) Protocols, using these protocols, routers will search and determine the best path between the two hosts to send data packets back and forth. o Switches – While routers send data packets, switches filter these data packets and then send the data packet to its destination, however it has very limited functions, it is more advanced than a hub, however it is less compared to a router.…

The Internet was originally called the ARPANET, and in order to enhance the ARPANET to be enable may different types of computer networks to all communicate with each other, an open source protocol needed to be created, hence the development of TCP/IP. TCP/IP improved communications throughout the network and allowed all computers to easily communicate with one another. Another technology that helped expand the ARPANET to more users in a specific location was the development of the Ethernet. Ethernet is a coaxial cable that is still used today in many local area networks. Ethernet is highly effective in moving data from one computer to another at high speeds.…

Many people are concerned about the dangers that cell phones pose, and they are told that keeping it a greater distance from their heads and using devices such as headphones can diminish much of the radiation; all of which is true. Unfortunately, since the technology industry has made the invention of wireless headphones, if people use their cell phones in conjunction with these devices, the radiation dosage can be even greater than normal. Using Bluetooth, the main type of wireless communication between devices, can have just as much electromagnetic radiation as talking on the phone. One team realized this and began to test the power density rating and the specific absorption rate (SAR), both of which measure radiation dosages. This team…
