Cognitive Psychology
Cognitive Psychology is a fairy modern approach to human behaviour that is the scientific study of the mind as an information processor. Cognitive psychology is mainly that if we want to know what makes people tick then we need to understand the internal processes of their mind. It involves the study of the human mental processes and how they play a role in how we feel, how we think and the way we behave. This type of psychology focuses on how humans process different types of information and what responses come from the treatment. Cognitive psychologists study internal processes including attention, perception, memory, thinking and language in certain situations.

There are 3 different ways of using the biological psychology method, first is the comparative method which is the study of different species of animals then comparing them to help us understand human behaviour. Second is the physiology which is how hormones, the nervous system work, how the brain functions, how changes in structure and function can affect our behaviour as humans. A lot of theories focus on how a child was brought up and how that can affect their mental health and wellbeing as they grow into an adult. Developmental psychologists study a wide range of theoretical areas, such as emotion, biological, social, and cognitive processes. There are 3 goals that dominate development psychology is to describe, explain and to optimize development. However when trying to explain development it is very important that you look at both who their parents are and who raised them, this is known as nature and nurture. Nature refers to people’s genes and their biological makeup. Nurture refers to the environment people live in and what people have experienced in their life time that may be traumatic
