Mindful Listening
Definition and Discussion:
Mindful listening-Listening that requires us to be engaged with another reason-the words,the behaviors,and the environment.Mindful listening is the essence of receptivity — allowing another individual to express themselves without interrupting, judging, refuting, or discounting. It truly sets the stage or foundation for effective communication between individuals, and is the gateway to understanding for individuals and to gain a connection to the community as a whole. This type of listening helps individuals feel welcome/included in a certain friend group and also allowing them to feel a connection with another individual, who respects the baggage or past experiences they have to bring to the personal community that surrounds them. This type of listening is extremely important because it creates a bond of similarity between multiple individuals creating the kinds of groups that unify the different aspects of individuality into a respectable community that can better the community. This conversation was centered on relationships that failed or boyfriends that grew distant in the college setting of life. Mostly males that due to the distractions of college life i.e partying and the new large population of the female body decided the girlfriends they had at the moment failed to live up to the college expectations. Emily hadn’t yet connected to the group of girls around her and we were still fairly new to one another. The group still had their walls up to guard their emotional stability as there was not yet developed a bond of mutual trust between the girls sitting around the library table.
