For example, I can handle situations remaining calm and doesn’t react quickly. However, Type A people are “likely to respond to frustrating situations with anger and hostilely” (Burger,2015, p.197). Personally, I believe that an individual can possess traits from both personalities since I do. Most of the time I have the drive to achieve and get frustrated easily sometimes, however, I know when to relax and go with the flow. Furthermore, the trait approach discusses the achievement motivation of an individual, which is the primary drive for Type A personality. Achievement goals provide targets that people aspire to in achievement situations, which can be divided into two categories: mastery goals and performance goals. (Burger,2015, p.193) Both may possess these goals, however, various of other traits which cause an individual to achieve these goals at different levels and times. Additionally, the trait approach looks at the Big Five personality factors which can influence a person’s personality. Most individuals with a Type A personality usually has traits of neuroticism- upset of daily stressors and more prone to anxiety and depression, and conscientiousness- controlled and self-disciplined.
