Diabetes a metabolic disease in which the body’s inability to produce any or enough insulin causes elevated levels of glucose in the blood. Diabetes has two different categories, the first is Type 1 diabetes and the second is Type 2 diabetes. There are several commonalities, differences, and myths with diabetes. Then medical community has been trying to educate the general public for years. The thought that diabetes is not that big of a deal has made diabetes one of the largest cause of death in the United States of America.

Prediabetes levels are levels that are higher than normal but have not yet reached high enough levels to be diagnosed with diabetes. Type 2 diabetes, the more common type, can develop at any age, though it 's more common in people older than 40. Although it is a contributing factor, obesity is not the only reason one can be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. A seemingly healthy person of average weight can also be someone who eats a lot of sugar and has a family history of type 2 diabetes. How type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes the cells become resistant to the function of insulin, and the pancreas is unable to make sufficient amounts insulin to overcome the resistance. The reasons are still being researched. A few of the best ways to prevent type 2 diabetes are eating healthy food, exercising regularly and going to your doctor for annual physicals. “The good news is that making just a few small changes can have to make a big impact on your weight and health.” (Diabetes Basics) The diet and lifestyle are some of the easy ways to keep the glucose levels down. Plenty of green vegetables and lean meat is a good start. Then limiting the number of carbohydrates and unhealthy fats is another choice that can improve your chance of not becoming diabetic. Exercise is the next factor you can adjust. Thirty minutes of exercise per day reduces the risk of becoming diabetic. Not smoking or quit smoking is a simple choice to reduce risk as well. Annual physicals are a straightforward way of being aware of your glucose levels. Awareness is an important way to make sure your life choices are kept in check and you are making the best
