This led her to find the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF. JDRF is the largest diabetes research foundation and they have been around for over 45 years. Trasi contacted the foundation to find out how she could be involved. “We need a cure and I knew I had to do all I could to find one for my son.” Trasi has taken on being a board member for the local JDRF. The JDRF puts on a yearly walk that raises money for the foundation. There is also a skiing event and a dinner auction that JDRF holds every year. “My main goal is to raise money through the different events JDRF puts on. The money is used for research in finding a cure for diabetes and for diabetes prevention.” It is a monumental task, but one that Trasi will keep fighting until there is a cure for type 1
