INTRODUCTION

Tylenol was started in 1955 when a pharmaceutical company, McNeil Laboratories, introduced doctors to a new and safe prescription medicine for children. Ever since then, Tylenol has expanded worldwide and developed into a well known brand name with adult and children’s pain and fever relief products.In 1879, Robert McNeil opened a pharmacy in Philadelphia and the focus has been on pursuing the development of safe and effective medicines. This commitment to health and safety was most dramatically demonstrated in 1982 when McNeil faced a criminal tampering incident. The response made led to the creation of the first safety sealed tamper resistant packaging.

Marketing Mix

Tylenol uses the seven P’s: Product, Price, Place, Promotion, Physical Evidence, People, and Process. The company effectively uses this to maximize its chances of achieving steady, continual success in its operations and ensure that it remains responsible to its customers by living up to its product claims.

Product: Tylenol provides over the counter pain relief medication. It is marketed as an effective painkiller that is safer than non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin or ibuprofen, which are associated with stomach discomfort or bleeding. Tylenol is generally a pain-reliever brand, but it branches out to many different types of pain to expand on their line of product. The company always comes up with new products, which allows to gain more customers.
Price: In the United States, Johnson and Johnson strives to keep their net price increases for health care products within the Consumer Price Index. It is an reasonably affordable and decent quality brand, which has attracted and still attracts loyal
