Tybalt In William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Tybalt is most responsible for the tragic death of the two “star-crossed lovers,” Romeo and Juliet. These two lovers are born from two rival families the Capulets and the Montagues. This fictional tale sets off in Verona, Italy during the 1300’s. When mistakenly receiving word from a Capulet servant, Romeo and Benvolio who are both members of the Montague family, are made aware of a Capulet feast and decide to attend. At the feast, Romeo and Juliet meet and this is what first sparks their interest in each other. However, the long- lived feud between the two families makes their relationship inauspicious and leads to much conflict throughout the story. Romeo and Juliet decide to be married in secret, and shortly after the marriage on a hot day in the afternoon, Tybalt and his “capels” meet Montague Benvolio and his friend Mercutio. …show more content…
When Romeo arrives to the scene late, Tybalt excuses the two ready to approach Romeo. However, Mercutio’s wit and humorous personality causes him to keep opening his mouth and get into a fight with Tybalt. Mercutio is killed in the battle. Before his life comes to an end, Mercutio curses both families. This can be an example of foreboding for the unfortunate calamitous ending of the story. After encouraging the two to end the fighting Romeo then avenges his friend Mercutio’s death ending the life of the Capulet’s kinsman and his beloved Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt. Tybalt is the prime suspect of the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he sought out to get revenge on Romeo, was very quick to anger, and wouldn’t listen to
