Tybalt In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

Improved Essays
Tybalt is an easily angered person, he likes to stir up any trouble he can especially with his sworn enemies, the Capulets. Tybalt personally hates the word peace and everything about or related to it, for example he says, “What, drawn and talk of peace! I hate the word, As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee.” (1.1.65-66). Tybalt is making it clear to the Capulets that he wants to fight and not be peaceful towards them. This is important because Tybalt is not thinking over what could happen in fights like this. If Tybalt was more thoughtful with his decisions he could have lived.

Tybalt killed Mercutio while Romeo was trying to help them both make the correct decision about fighting. “Gentlemen, for shame, forbear this outrage! Tybalt,

Benvolio and Tybalt are two foil characters from Romeo and Juliet. Half of the wig head represents Benvolio and the other half represents Tybalt because without one of these characters the play would not be the same. The right side represents Benvolio, the quotes are printed out in blue because blue represents calmness and healing that Benvolio had. The seven characteristics of Benvolio are sticking out on green paper because green represents peace. Benvolio stayed away from violence and anger and instead was a peacemaker.…

Tybalt is shown here as having a lack of self-temper, by having the desire to kill Romeo on the spot. Later in the story, Tybalt is shown as having another hasty want, to cause a fight or brawl. “You shall find me apt enough to that, sir, and you will give me occasion” (Shakespeare 426). Tybalt then continues to duel a beloved friend of Romeo’s, Mercutio, and in the end kills him. Mercutio’s death is one of many deaths in Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, although it is the most controversial. You could say it was Tybalt’s fault or Mercutio’s, there are many to blame, but most of the blame goes much farther back. The first main person to blame is Tybalt. If he never showed up, there would never have been a fight, if he never stabbed Mercutio he wouldn’t have died. If he wasn’t so antsy to fight anyone anywhere, then he would have restrained himself from attacking Mercutio.…

The Butterfly Effect… What is the Butterfly Effect? The butterfly effect is “the idea, used in chaos theory, that a very small difference in the initial state of a physical system can make a significant difference to the state at some later time”, that would be the definition according to Dictionary.com. This means that everything that Tybalt did affected the way he is killed and why he died the way he did. Tybalt’s death should put blame on Tybalt himself for the following reasons, Tybalt kills Mercutio with little to no regret or contrition , also Tybalt challenges Romeo to a duel twice, and another rationale would be Tybalt’s fragile masculinity and him also thinking and acting as if is superior than everyone around him at all times. Among those points there are more things that had a role in his death, one being when Romeo tries to talk to him and tell him that he didn’t wish to hurt him now that they are family and that he loved him like that but, Tybalt didn’t want to listen.…

Mercutio knows if Tybalt duels with Romeo, Romeo will most likely lose. So Mercutio protects him by insulting Tybalt by saying “O calm, dishonourable, vile submission” then goes on to say, with a now drawn sword “Tybalt you rat catcher, will you walk” which is a question of a duel. Mercutio doing this is a great act of loyalty toward Romeo. Mercutio’s death by Tybalt adds to his heroic services to Romeo. Romeo shows his act of loyalty back to Mercutio by getting revenge on his soul, he does this by beating Tybalt and overall killing him.…

“If you ever disturb our streets again, your lives shall pay the forfeit of the peace” (1.1.90-91) these lines clearly state a warning given by the Price to all members of both families. They were given this warning because of a battle that took place between the two families in the market. This warning is an important part of this play because it leads to Romeo’s banishment and his death later into the story. Another part in the story shows that the violence leads to Romeo’s and Juliet’s death is Tybalt’s line “Boy, thou shall not excuse the injuries that thou hast dare me, therefore turn an draw” (3.1.63-64) these lines show Tybalt’s thirst for blood of Montague, and how he wants to kill Romeo. This shows the hatred between the families and how Tybalt is blinded by his hatred and doesn’t really fully understand what is going on.…

When Tybalt discovers that Romeo has crashed the Capulet party his first instinct is to kill him. This meaningless hatred derives from the Montague and Capulet feud, and this hatred leads to his own downfall as a character. This event triggers his animosity towards Romeo and eventually makes him a killer and gets himself killed. In addition, this hatred is essential to the play because it ends with Romeo being banished from Verona, which is a crucial point that leads into the star-crossed lovers…
