Tybalt: A Short Story

When Tybalt made it back to his home he almost instantly began to work on the potion, it needed twenty-four hours to brew, and Tybalt only had two days left until the match. In the meantime, he began to work on his armor, he went to down and bought a jousting stick, he was almost ready. Time began to go into double time. It was like in a blink of the eye and it was the day of the match. Tybalt stood in front of the stadium, painted in white and gold, the crowds noise blaring out into the street. King Basile’s face showed no emotion, perhaps he was surprised Tybalt had shown, or he just didn’t have a care in the world about what was about to happen. The crowd began to silence, as the match began. The two opponents sat on their steeds, both on opposite sides of the bar separating them. Sir Goliath went into position, followed by Tybalt. The signal was given and Tybalt was off, but as he approached the middle of the bar he noticed Goliath had not moved, was he afraid? As soon as that absurd thought entered Tybalt’s head Sir Goliath charged, he wasn’t afraid, he was giving Tybalt a head start, for Geoffrey was not the fastest of steeds. They each crossed their stick across their bodies just before they met each other in the middle, Tybalt closed his eyes. When nothing happened Tybalt opened up one of his eyes and peeked out, he was fine. He looked around and saw the whole audience in awh, Sir Goliath’s stick had passed over his shoulder, Geoffrey’s height had lowered Tybalt just enough to dodge the blow.
