Going to a friend’s house can be a scary experience. Some of their customs that they normally do are weird to you. Why is that? Culture that is introduced to a certain individual can change someone’s point of view. Culture is the behaviors and belief characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group. “Two Ways to Belong in America” by Bharati Mukherjee show that people in the same culture can have different point of views due to being exposed to another culture, “What is Cultural Identity” by Elise Trumbull and Maria Pacheco talks about how some people in the same ethnic group doesn’t always have the same beliefs or actions, “Everyday Use” by Alice Walker is when Dee thought she was from Africa and that she wanted to live the African culture after thinking that all Black people come from America. Culture can have somewhat of an affect on the way we view the world, although other things can influence the way you see things as well.These three stories give examples of how different cultures can affect you and how not always your one culture affects the way you see the world.
