In Twain’s essay, he describes how the beauty is lost; in a relationship, the energy grows stronger when the couple overlooks the flaws, the differences are that when the couple first starts dating they do much more for each other. They see no obstacles. Everything about the other person is amazing but, after living with them or seeing them on a daily basis, certain things about the person become annoying since it is the same routine all the time.
In conclusion, these two topics have a lot in common; the way Twain lost interest in the river and in its beauty is similar to how couples lose interest in each other and in their relationship. Sometimes people are too busy looking at the outside that they do not take time to see what it is like on the inside.
