With the stars shining bright, steady breath and enchanting dreams were all to be found; only peace and serenity. Soon, it was all quickly shattered. “Ettie! Ettie, please get up!” My body was shaken forcefully as my husband, Bertram, or as I referred to him, Frank, attempted desperately to awake me. I groggily peered at him, running my lanky fingers through the wisps of my blonde hair. I sighed densely, shaking myself awake. “Yes, Frank?” I scowled, angered to be awake at such a late hour. He swallowed and blinked a few times, breathing deep. “Ettie, I’m terrified. This noise, this monstrous noise filled the air. It was loud and disgusting, and it wasn’t good… Wasn’t good at all. We need out! I don’t want to be here. I don’t trust….I …show more content…
“Frank, Bert is still on the boat. We have to get him, Frank. He’s only two!” I was trying to remain calm, but through the gushes of noise and fear, staying orderly was nearly impossible. Frank nodded to me in understanding, climbing out the small boat into the larger one. Minutes seemed to last as long as hours waiting for his return. We reserved his spot, but our boat was filling quickly. Broads of all sorts, rich and filthy alike were all around us, but I could not leave without him. Finally, I could see him. Clutching Bertram in his arms, he ran quickly to our boat. He pushed through the crowds, dropping our son in slooply. He reached one leg in, heading to our boat. In a swift, startling motion, he was pushed back. I gasped sharply, trying hard not to cry as he hit the deck. In the distance, I could hear a man scream, "Lower Boayt 10!" We slowly began to decend into the water. I couldn't help but reach to the sky, crying and beggging, praying to raise us and grab him before I lost him again. Sadly, it would never happen. I had lost him forever. Our boat hit the water with a large splash, send the icey, black water all over us. A chill ran down my spine. I reached towards my children, pulling them as close as

(Name of land again) was like our little home away from home with it smelled of pine trees. Behind that lurked smoke from a distant bonfire up behind the house with freshly caught salmon grilling over the nearby flames. The stage lights blared down on my trembling body as I tried to force a smile onto anxious face. The year-end concert had approached and the moment for the audience to be introduced to the elegant melody of Gabriel’s Oboe had finally arrived. The hours spent perfecting my tone, the repetition of phrases to perfect my rhythm, all led up to my hope of performing a faultless solo. As the conductor nodded his head and the the phrase the band behind my played escalated, the first notes spoke from the wooden instrument I grasped in my shivering hands. The F, E, G, A, C, resonated around the auditorium and boomed off the sound beams back into my determined mind.…

I couldn’t remember the last time I had seen the sky, in all its blue and expansive glory. All I knew were the red-brown bricks of the ceiling that swooped mere inches above my head and the cold wooden planks beneath my bare feet.
