Two Sided Coin (working title)

(Not sure if I should start with Every time I used to see her my heart would race or I sat silent in the empty room) I sat silent in the empty room glaring at the flask and envelope that had been left at my table. The morning sun poured into the room, seeping into every crevice and revealing its ugliness. Dirt and dust flew up into the air, suspended by the putrid orange rays. Love. It forces you to share and become one with another person and when something goes wrong that pain dwells deep within your being. It is a pain like no other, one that cuts through all the armor that we put up during our lives

The starry sky was jagged and disconnected from the grass, a sharp difference from the last time. Stars bled from the sky like a thousand pale golden tears. Once again I could feel the life leave from my legs and I found myself moving without sensation. This time the sensation was remarkably different to last time. I felt myself swimming in the pool of the night sky, beating on against the

"December 17, 1853, Dear Mr Scrooge: You, a fine sir of business, may take little notice of this letter. Ten years ago you changed for the better. However before the change, you flung a cane towards the window of a boy singing. That was me." Scrooge laughs bitterly and makes the letter shake in his wrinkled hand.…

My breathing started to get a little lighter. I started to think about what I should do but I couldn’t come up with anything. Remembering how I never paid attention in school or to my dad I started to cry, what was I doing here and most importantly how could I possibly get back home from such an uninhabited place like this. After an hour of feeling sorry for myself I heard a low but steady thumping.…

As I saw the wonders of the outside world that I had been missing for 3 years; in the background my ears blacked out the other noises of the guards tearing others apart and screams and sobs of the weepers. The wind caressed my cheek in a soft embrace as it blew cold wispy kisses on my skin, the dark had taken over about an hour past, and the sky was filled with dazzling stars and a moon so ominous it sent chills down my spine. The ships had set sail this morning, leaving my home behind in hopes of a brighter life, a better future. As I had taken my first step onto the old ship, the floorboards creaked and groaned reminding me of the home I left. I looked out, marvelling in the darkness that surrounded me. The dancing stars were the only light I had, but back at home I had no other source of light either.…

Old dusty clothes draped over the old faded grey rickety chair, resting in the corner. The pitch black wallpaper ridiculed with silver spider webs obscuring the majority of the walls, with the windowed wall disintegrated from the events of the world. The single bed relaxes alone in the corner of this confined space. The small abandoned bed, with its childish bright blue duvet, faded from time, neatly made mocking itself and the rest of the room with its emptiness. The dark wooden bookcase, filled with torn, old half eaten storybooks, half rotting away infested with dark radiation enlarged bugs.…
