Book Review: The Prince and the Pauper
The Prince and the Pauper is a Realistic fiction novel written by the American author Mark Twain. His real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens. He was born in Florida on the 30th of November. The book was published in 1881 in Canada, 1882 it was published in the United States. The book is a story about two boys who look similar to each other, Prince Edward King Henry VIII’s son and a pauper called Tom Canty. This novel is popular, it was made into cartoon films and a movie. This novel is suitable for all ages.

Tom Canty and Prince Edward Tudor were born in the same day in London.
Tom was poor and his family did not want him on the other hand, everyone in England was waiting for Prince Edward.
Tom’s family lived in a small building on a street called Offal Court.

On the coronation day, Tom arrived at the church to be crowned king, he looked at the crowed around him and saw his mother. He covered his face by his hands to block her from seeing him.
Mr.Canty knew it was her son, she pushed herself to the front and grabbed his hand but a guard pulled her and threw her to the ground.
Lord Hertford noticed that Tom was unhappy, so he asked him if there was something wrong. He replied “That woman is my mother”. The lord thought that the king has gone mad again.
Hertford led Tom to the throne and Tom sat on it. When the crown was about to be placed someone called out, “I forbid you to set the crown of England upon that impostor’s head. I am the true king!”
The lord protector asked Edward a question to make sure he was not lying, the question was,”Where is the royal seal?” Edward told him that he hid it in a secret drawer at the back of his desk.
Everyone in the church was waiting while the Lord Protector and few guards went to search the desk.
The Lord Protector came with the royal seal. Everyone cheered, “Long live the true king
