Paraguayans. People in Paraguay is far different from other people in South America. The majority are rural, which means they have plain, uncomplicated lifestyle compared to those who are in the urban areas. The majority of people in Paraguay usually have a single ethnic background, which helps them better understand each other since they have close, if not the same culture, and to where they basically descend from. The two main ethnic groups that is found in the country are the Mestizos and Africans. Mestizo makes up about 95% of the modern population of Paraguay. This group is a descendant of both Spaniards and Guaraní during the ancient colonial period. Mestizos’ primary language are Guaraní and Spanish. The second group which covers the remaining 5% of the country’s population is a heterogeneous mixture of other ethnic groups. This mixture of ethnic groups include people of African descent. However, these groups don’t differ from each other and is not easily distinguished whether in appearance or language.
Language. The country has two official languages spoken nationwide: Spanish and Guaraní. Spanish is mostly used in formal setting like things that has anything to do with the government, education and commerce. Guaraní on the other hand, is considered to be the language

People’s way of life often depends on poverty which plays an important factor in conditioning lifestyle. Majority of the people in this country has a lifestyle that’s a blend of both Indian and European culture. However, the Spanish culture did not become prevalent in Paraguay unlike any other country in Latin America. The reason for this is probably because the Spaniards did not so much conquer the country as mixture with its greatest cultural group, the Guaraní. The life in the urban differs greatly with the life in the rural areas too.
