Two Part Video: Heroes Of The Enlightenment

The two part video “Heroes of the Enlightenment” is very educational and interesting. The video is based on the events that took place during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries during the Enlightenment period. During this time, people started to move away from the views of the church and started to focus more on scientific views. The documentary focuses on the accomplishments of seven men who helped change and shape the world that we live in today. Some of these men, such as Isaac Newton and Thomas Jefferson helped make new discoveries. These men, along with others, helped lay the foundation of advancements in science. They also helped us get some of the freedoms that we have today. The first part of the video, “The Power of Knowledge,” began by introducing Isaac Newton and how he discovered the idea of gravity. This was a great way to start off the video and get the audiences’ attention. Newton was a very religious man, which helped the church to accept his new discoveries and beliefs. This made the transition between the two videos easy to follow. This part of the documentary focuses more on changes in the government and in the society rather than changes in science. The narrator explains in detail the formation of the different branches of government. Men like Thomas Jefferson and Fredrick the Great played a major role in the development of the government. Thomas Jefferson expressed his thoughts on having a president. People were now starting to demand change in the world and they finally start to realize that they have a voice and that they could have their own
