Then an electric current will pass through the tumor to heat it and kill the cancerous cells. Second, radiation is when a machine is used to point high-energy X-rays at the tumor to destroy it. Third, chemotherapy is an IV that is either a mixture or just one prescribed by a doctor. Finally, the last option is surgery, if the cancer has not spread too far. This method is usually the best way to treat non-small cell lung cancer. The doctor will remove a part of the lung with the tumor and the tissue around it, or just the entire lung.
