One of the various advantages to this document is that it works with the elements listed in the Disability Standards for Education 2005 and has developed its guidelines around the premise of these elements in the document which by itself has advantages as seen above. Another advantage is that this document discusses reporting to parents in how their child is progressing. ("Working with students with a disability and their families", 2016) mentions that this collaboration of discussing progress can help develop open and trusting relationships, which is essential to supporting children with disabilities. Although there are advantages to this document there is a very clear disadvantage which is that this document is related to the old curriculum of AusVELS and not the current curriculum of Australian Curriculum and if just used alone may incur problem with teaching students with disabilities as some of the information, for example, the levels or stages of students with disabilities component can be incorrect and give inaccurate information to what should be taught and or differentiated for their learning. Hence although this document clearly has advantages, overall this may be used in a small way due to the change in curriculum used within
