This analytical essay will explore in depth four most important aspects including: defining wellbeing and inclusion in a primary education context, recapping three key documents which are Disability Standards for Education 2005, Student Diversity and the Australian Curriculum and Students with disabilities guidelines, analysing these three documents’ advantages and disadvantages and considering implications these documents have on graduate teachers. Within each of these four aspects of this essay, an in-depth analysis will be conducted to gain a fuller understanding of additional needs and culturally diverse learners. Hence it is important to complete an analysis of the aspects which will be done.

This document has a key purpose to help ensure that all students are able to access and participate in the Australian Curriculum, provide advice as to how the three-dimensional design of the Australian Curriculum may be used to address the learning needs of all students, provide specific advice with regard to meeting the learning needs of students with disability, gifted and talented students, and students for whom English is an additional language or dialect and provide examples of adjustments to illustrate how students with diverse needs can access and participate in the Australian Curriculum (ACARA, 2013). Also within this document, other key components make up this document including consideration when making adjustments and using general capabilities to make adjustments (ACARA, 2013). One of the various advantages to this document is that it works with the elements listed in the Disability Standards for Education 2005 and has developed its guidelines around the premise of these elements in the document which by itself has advantages as seen above. Another advantage is that this document discusses reporting to parents in how their child is progressing. ("Working with students with a disability and their families", 2016) mentions that this collaboration of discussing progress can help develop open and trusting relationships, which is essential to supporting children with disabilities. Although there are advantages to this document there is a very clear disadvantage which is that this document is related to the old curriculum of AusVELS and not the current curriculum of Australian Curriculum and if just used alone may incur problem with teaching students with disabilities as some of the information, for example, the levels or stages of students with disabilities component can be incorrect and give inaccurate information to what should be taught and or differentiated for their learning.
