Stave 1--Dismal Gray seemed to shroud the entire section of this story, hanging low like the mist over England. Although bleakness is not the main theme in A Christmas Carol, it is certainly present and important. As evidenced by the author’s word choice when he was adding description to the Christmas Eve night: it was cold, bleak, biting weather, and he could hear the people in the court outside….candles were flaring in windows of the windows of the neighboring offices, like ruddy smears upon the palpable brown air….to see the dingy cloud come drooping down obscuring everything….…

Although I have read books and watched movies about WWI, I still had a lot to learn about this war. I knew little things about this topic, such as the war stopped before Christmas and restarted after New Year’s day. But, I always wondered why there was a truce over Christmas and was eager to learn more. I also knew that the German army was the strongest army in Europe and wanted to learn more about what made them so strong. After reading the book Truce by Jim Murphy I learned a lot more about WWI and truce that occurred over Christmas.…

Richard Rodrigues shows the negative impact of a newly wealthy family, and the change in the dynamic that the material success has brought. The once proud parents who always wanted success for their children have seen less and less of their kids, and the effect of that is conveyed in the detailed interaction between the members of their family. Sibling’s success that allows them to buy such expensive items has taken them away from their family and holidays have become a routine rather than a genuine interaction. While I have my personal favorites, there is no denying that a massive hit this year was their film A Heavenly Christmas starring Eric McCormack, Kristin Davis, and the legendary Shirley MacClaine. I was incredibly elated when he responded (and so quickly too). Gregg graciously agreed to answer a few questions about his passion for writing, his personal struggles in his own life, and even a bit about his future…
