Having the motivation required in order to learn on your own. Active learners always strive to learn more. They have the drive to learn more and always are looking for solutions to problems. They have to have “self discipline, take initiative, be independent, persistent, accept responsibility, and overcome obstacles.” (Cobb, 2013) The have to want to learn on their own even without supervision. Staying active means they must stay ahead in researching new things that come in order so stay ahead of the trends. An example of this could be web developers attending conferences and keeping up with changes in the industry.

I attend courses outside of college in addition to college. Learning from multiple sources ensures I don’t lose perspective based on only one viewpoint.

With that I’m also pursuing industry certifications whole in college so I can have an easier time getting some of the internships and other opportunities that the college has to offer.

Which brings me to the third strategy of real world experience. My goal is to learn from companies bigger than my own so that my company can become even more competitive and grow even faster. Internships with larger companies allows me to see the inner workings of the structures and controls they have in place.

The fourth strategy is networking with other students and professors to see what I can learn and teach them so we can collectively all succeed. Everyone has something to offer different perspectives, different technology, different skills, and a variety of cultural differences that we can all learn from.

Lastly I think the strategy needs to be critiqued and reworked constantly there is always room for improvement. One of the things I always stress in my industry is that we have to challenge everything even those concepts we think we agree with. Without that challenge how do we improve it. Without improvements there can be no innovation we must challenge the learning to push it to new
