A plethora of internal and external variables combine to create individual personalities, behaviors and psychopathologies supposedly unique to every human being. The argument of genetic makeup versus environmental influences, however, has researchers working to determine what really shapes us. Some say genotypes control how people think, feel and behave. Others believe it is the environment alone that is responsible for molding humans into who they are. There is much unknown in this field, but the perusal and review of twin, adoption,and family studies is a significant stepping stone in better understanding this topic. But what she thought would have been a beneficial reconnection with his parents raised many concerns of not just the appearance but the personality traits, talents and problems that the parents and Jamal shared. Ever Since Jamal had been adopted in 1981 him and his mother shared a very close relationship with a lot of emotional and verbal sharing. Even during their most troubling times, they never lost contact and jamal always confided to his mother. But knowing from the start Kay had known that jamal may encounter some troubles with his path towards adulthood. Jamal had been experiencing some of the same issues that his biological parents had dealt with at their age. Jamal's birth mother was a stressed teenage birth mom, who probably drank and smoked during jamal's pregnancy. With these ideas in mind in foreshadows why jamal chose a much less mainstream lifestyle of drugs and alcohol. But what really shocked Kay was with being out of touch for 25 years that both of jamal's biological parents struggled with a drug addiction throughout their lives. This shocked Kay especially because of previous phone calls she claimed that you would have never thought they would have had drug addictions. BUt instead sounded like charming intelligent people much like jamal. With this reunion it gave jamal a secure and stronger self esteem especially since he found mixed race heritage on both sides. With the evidence presented here this clearly indicated that although jamal had been separated for over 25 years, he made similar life decisions much like his parents.
