When you saw multiple on your ultra sound, what did you do? You are certainly getting more than you bargained for! Did you question whether you were seeing multiple or question your prescription? Having multiple babies, specifically twins, is perfectly normal! Twins are now on the rise; every one in thirty babies is a twin. This article helps simplify the science of twins for you, so you know exactly what is happening in your body or your wife’s body!

A tendency for fraternal twins can run in families, whereas identical twins typically do not. Only the mother’s genes would matter for determining if the birthing of twins is genetic because she would be the one producing more than one egg.
Identical twins, or monozygotic babies, are formed when a single egg is fertilized by a single sperm and then splits into two identical halves. Once the egg is fertilized and travels down the fallopian tubes, the zygote enters the womb and splits into two. In utero, identical twins are contained in the same sac and share a placenta. Now these babies have identical DNA and have the same blood type. Identical

If she has sex with two men within a short amount of time, and multiple eggs are fertilized, she can have twins that have two separate fathers. Though these twins would be considered fraternal twins, the scientific name for them is heteropaternal superfecundation. Put simply, heteropaternal superfecundation is when two eggs from the same mother are fertilized by different

Summer Twins Review: A Dreamy Dance Party Kicking off Valentine’s Day weekend with great music is not a bad way to dive into the holiday, for couples and singles alike. This last Friday, February 12, Summer Twins performed at Acerogami, Pomona, CA, joined by Veronica Bianqui. The entire event had a drinks-with-friends vibe, framed by the venue’s exposed brick, low lighting, projected music videos, and a few heart-shaped balloons at the stage. The beauty of smaller venues is the level of comfort they create. Conversation before and after the show flowed easily, from excitement about the performers to stray cats and operatic voicemails.…

It would be fun to be a twin. I think this because you would have a perfect friend to play with. They would be the exact age as you. They could like the same things as you because they could get the same personalities from your parents. Twins could entertain each other because if there is only one child, the child would probably get bored, but since there is two, they could play together and not get lonely.…

Many of you have heard about a two parent baby, but what are the chances of hearing about a three parent baby? A 6-month old baby boy is the first baby to be born using DNA from three people, hence given the name, three parent baby. The technique used to make the baby is called spindle transfer. In the process, the membrane surrounding the nucleus breaks down from two unfertilized egg cells each from the donor and the mother (Saey 2016). As chromosome are divided, they are attached to protein fibers called spindles (Saey 2016).…

Chromatin, chromatids, and chromosomes have different transformations in terms of mitosis and meiosis. Chromatin in Meiosis and Mitosis are shown differently in Interphase. In Mitosis, the chromatin is made up of DNA and proteins. The DNA coils around the protein and that structure is called a nucleosome. Each chromatid in Mitosis is made up of many strings of the DNA and proteins (nucleosomes) to form a half X.…

One of the most important reasons that offspring normally do not resemble their parents exactly is because of the passing down of recessive traits from parents to offspring. One reason that recessive alleles cause offspring to differ from their parents is shown an experiment conducted by Gregor Mendel. In this experiment, Mendel crossed a purebred tall plant with a purebred short plant. The resulting offspring, or the first filial generation, was entirely tall. The first filial generation was allowed to self-pollinate, and the second filial generation, to Mendel’s surprise was approximately one-fourth short and three-fourths tall.…
