Twilight Research Paper

Many major problems occurred in the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. In Twilight, the characters face many complicated issues, but always end up resolving them. The characters have many difficult choices to make which makes the problems more suspenseful and intense. For example, some problems like Bella’s scent and James hunting down Bella, were both the two main problems in the book. One problem that reflected the whole saga, but most importantly the first book was Bella’s scent. Edward Cullen is a vampire and when he first meets Bella, her scent is overwhelming and sweeter than any human he has ever come in contact with. Bella runs away from home with Alice and Jasper Cullen, while Edward and the rest of his family try to find James. Things take a turn for the worse when James calls Bella pretending to be her mom and says he will kill Bella’s mom if Bella doesn’t come to her old dance studio alone. This puts Bella in a situation where she wonders if she goes to save her mom and most likely die, or save herself and doesn’t go to her mom. Bella saves the one she loves and goes to save her mom. She escapes from Alice and Jasper and goes to her old dance studio where James claims to hold Bella’s mom. A huge plot twist occurs when James had a recording of Bella’s mom and never had her mom in the first place. He attempts to kill Bella, but Edward, Alice, Jasper, Emmett, and Carlisle got there at just the right time to save Bella. James bit Bella so she was slowly turning into a vampire and the only way to save her was for Edward to suck out the venom. He faces a tough choice. Save Bella by sucking out the venom, but he may lose control and kill her, or let her turn and end her life? He ends up sucking out the venom, but miraculously finds the will to stop and Bella is okay. This was a major problem for both Bella and Edward. If I were Edward, I would try to save her and do exactly what he did, knowing if I didn’t she would die either
