Twenty One Pilots began in 2009 by high school friends Tyler Joseph, Nick Thomas, and Chris Salih. Thomas and Salih left the band in 2011, before they left the band self-released the album Twenty One Pilots. Joseph carried on the band with Josh Dun (current drummer). They toured around the mid-west for a little and self-released album Regional At Best. In 2012 the duo signed with record label Fueled by Ramen. This label also produced bands like Green Day and Paramore. Throughout the next few years the band became more and more popular. Creating more music Twenty One Pilots began to become more recognized. They started to win awards from many different organizations. They even won an award in France! They broke many records. Their song “Heathens” spent more time on number one on Billboard Hot Rock Songs Chart than any other song ever. They won a Grammy this year for Best Pop Duo/ Group Performance. Their Grammy award will be remembered because when their name was announced the duo dropped their pants and accepted the Grammy in their underpants. They claimed when they were young that they were watching the Grammys in their underwear and agreed on if they ever won a Grammy they would do it exactly how they were. I began to listen to them every morning before school. They are my favorite band. They always bring my mood up. They have a song perfect for every mood. Whenever I am feeling iffy and really down I can always count on their music to bring me to a happier place. That is the whole point of music right? To bring joy and comfort to the public? Tyler and Josh definitely accomplished this aspect. They have a certain style that reaches out to a wide range of listeners and brings peace. Their music is so enjoyable really. I know when my friends and I are together we can have a great time by turning on some of our favorite TOP
