Twenty One Pilots Poetry Analysis

Twenty One Pilots is an alternative rock band. The band was formed in two thousand and nine in Columbus, Ohio. The band members were Tyler Joesph, Nick Thomas, and Chris Salih. A few years both Chris and Nick dropped out and Josh Dun joined the band. Since then the band has released two albums and multiple numbers one singles. The single Car Radio came out in two thousand thirteen. The single was written by Tyler Joesph. The song,"Car Radio", by Twenty One Pilots, uses symbolism, tone, and repetition to describe the struggle Tyler Joesph, the leader singer, was going through in his life.

Tyler Joesph wrote the song “Car Radio” using a lot of symbolism. The whole song “Car Radio” symbolizes the struggle he has been through in life. In lines 14 and 15, it says “I find it hard to hide it. My pride is no longer inside” which states that he's been hiding it and now he is forced to face it since somebody stole his car radio. Tyler Joesph was in college and hated his life and was not happy with what he was doing. Tyler Joesph was heading to class in a rush because he was late and forgot to lock his door and someone broke in and stole his car radio. In the song, Tyler Joesph talks about the struggle he has been going trough in life. The choice of words Tyler Joesph uses definitely shows the tone of the poem. In lines thirteen and fourteen he says “Sometimes quiet is violent, I find it hard to hide it”. These two lines in the song show that Tyler Joesph has been upset but has been hiding it inside him and drowning it out with music.
