Which leads to the statement that love is not just handed to you, you must work for it because love is never easy. This shows that she is unwilling to give up. So, both characters refuse to give up on who they love, showing determination as well as obsession which relates to the statement that love doesn’t always work out.
Secondly, love caused both characters’ pain. Love can be tricky and it transforms you into a completely different person. At the start of the play, Olivia is mourning over her brother’s death and is in pain, unwilling to fall in love for the next 7 years which causes Orsino pain because he desperately loves her.
Throughout this play, Duke Orsino goes crazy over his love for Olivia and demonstrates that in many ways. (Act 1, scene 1). Olivia feels as though her love is like a plague, very so quickly may one catch the plague.” The plague is known as a disease that affects both humans and animals. Olivia also falls in love with Cesario without truly getting to know him, as she is clueless that he is a girl because of her imagination of love.. Olivia sworn to stay away from men for seven years but as soon as she meets Cesario, her mind changes. This causes a love triangle since Cesario loves Duke Orsino.
