Dear Dr and Mrs. Demann, as the year closes to an end I am delighted to reflect on Tessa's greatest triumphs and points of growth. Starting in my first months of teaching Tessa, each day she entered our classroom with an eager smile, thirsty to present her ideas to her classmates. With our work on Twelfth Night, by William Shakespeare, Tessa demonstrated focus and interest in the classic. She shared her connections between each character and key themes such as irony and mirroring. For instance, she often pointed out how the series of connections expresses how love can affect one's actions. She took note of how characters such as Olivia can become so plagued by love and others such as Orsino can become blinded. She found great understanding in how infatuation can …show more content…
Such as, Mr.Rochester's ability to become blinded by his love for Jane without acknowledging how he was using her to forget his past. She demonstrated this understanding of the book in her spring exam. She was able to analyze Janes desire to learn throughout the entire novel, a key point in understanding the purpose of her many adventures. Throughout the school year Tessa has grown in the area of selecting good evidence to support her impressive ideas. Tessa's attention has improved greatly which is magnified in her growing ability to focus on a specific idea while writing, something she struggled with in the beginning of the year. Tessa's eagerness to learn is amplified in her habit to call out which she has been working on. She blossoms off her peers humor and enjoys herself greatly. Although she may spiral into other subjects, she is working on her ability to stay concentrated on the task at hand. She respects her peers ideas and shows great admiration for there work. Her ability to form bonds with her classmates she may not usually surround herself with is

In my opinion, Antony speech was more delivered better because includes several persuasive details in his speech. After saying that his intent wasn't to praise Caesar, he says, "He was my friend, faithful and just to me. " Antony's speech points out many of Caesar acts that had benefited them as Roman citizens. These days, many romantic poems, movies and books tell tales of one person loving another in which those feelings are not returned. We often see ourselves within the characters of these stories, which is what makes them so appealing. In our current era, unrequited love is still a greatly utilised theme in many books, such as “Dear John.” Nicholas Sparks writes, “I finally understood what true love meant…love meant that you care for another person’s happiness more than your own, no matter how painful the choices you face might be.” This quote very much relates to the characters in the play, “Twelfth Night” written by William Shakespeare.…

Twelfth Night, a play by William Shakespeare, is about a love triangle between Duke Orsino, Viola, and the Countess Olivia where Orsino is trying to woo Olivia, who refuses his advances because she is mourning the death of her brother; Viola is in love with Orsino, but can’t show her affection since she is disguised as a man; and Olivia is in love with Viola disguised as Cesario. After all sorts of different complications getting in between their love for each other, Olivia marries Viola’s brother, Sebastian who was believed to be dead, and Viola and Orsino marry each other. I usually don’t enjoy reading plays, but Twelfth Night is an exception. It is witty, funny, and has a wonderful romantic plot despite its hard-to-follow Shakespearean…

By the year 1600, English had been transformed into an immeasurably dominant and expressive medium employed by Shakespeare, Marlowe, and the translators of the Bible (Greenblatt 549-61). In order to grasp Shakespeare, Marlowe must be correspondingly appraised on his influence in Shakespeare’s literary structure and style. Laurie E. Maguire, a scholar at Oxford University, reports that contemporary linguistic findings have presented an undeniable indication that “Marlowe’s hand appears in several Shakespearean texts,” including the Henry VI plays (Morgan 1). During the 16th century, scholarly prodigies, such as Marlowe and Shakespeare, revived passionate, tormented love poetry and crafted various staples within literary history. The idea of…

Love is often represented in romance films and literature as an everlasting adoration that never falters nor fades. However, Shakespeare suggests the fickle nature of love in his comedy Twelfth Night as numerous characters fall in and out of love, and experience its euphoria and misery. For instance, the lovesick Duke Orsino experiences the elation of love, yet also the loneliness of rejection; Lady Olivia instantly goes from loving grief to pursuing Cesario; and Orsino renounces his love for Olivia in order to marry Viola. Thus, through Shakespeare’s portrayal of character’s attitudes and actions in Twelfth Night, it is undeniable that he is suggesting that love is a source of joy and pain, which results in fickle affections as an attempt…

In Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, characters are gendered in the way they speak about love, as male characters, such as Orsino, articulate about love in a tactical and orchestrated way, while female characters, such as Viola, speak about love freely and off the cuff. These display of love, convey that male characters in the play view love as a goal that must be achieved and to do so must plan how to gain love. However for female characters love is a consequence of character and actions, it is not the goal for the female character to fall in love but rather, love just happens. If music be the food of love, play on, Give me excess of it that, surfeiting,…
