ISIS Case Study

I have no doubt that having U.S. forces on the ground will work, however, I do not support a full on ground forces. A large force with their equipments and vehicles would require a base or two that would need additional personnel to provide support and security. A tank force or air force is simply too expensive and cumbersome in combat in fighting the more agile "technical" vehicles (pickup trucks mounted with a machine gun or larger weaponry) the ISIS member uses. In addition, a large force would also be viewed as a U.S. invading force that no Arab nation would welcome and this may attract more combatants to the area (maybe better rather than them trying to come to U.S. to conduct their terror operations).
Lets say Iraq does welcome us back with a large force, once ISIS is beaten, would Iraq agree to signing the "Forces of Agreement," an agreement where any U.S. forces left behind would be immune to Iraqi …show more content…
The war with ISIS in essence is like a guerrilla war where ISIS members, although they carry their black flag, can simply blend in with the local population and make it difficult for our forces to identify. The limited ground forces we send in could play an advisor role and coordinate combat operations between allied forces. I would continue to support the use of drone with limited use as to prevent civilian collateral damage (thus preventing surviving family members to further hate us and join ISIS also). I think it also important to have the Arabs take the bulk of the fight rather than the U.S. or Western allies. Although ISIS is naming this war as a war against the infidels, namely the U.S., the Western world, and Christianity, symbolically, by having the Arabs take the lead, this can be viewed as Arab against ISIS, not be viewed as a U.S. or Western allies war against the Arab
