It seems Daniel Craig was chosen for the role as he is often cast as an action hero or as a self-described ‘anti-hero’ in the recent James Bond movies. In his 2009, Internet Movie Database (IMDb) Biography, Craig himself says, “I don’t know whether I am a good guy, or a bad guy who works for the good guys”. He has been nominated 23 times and has won 11 popular awards throughout his professional career to date. He is highly decorated. In his long association with acting, Craig has the experience needed to give credence to the physically and emotionally demanding role of the eldest of the Bielski brothers. His athletic ability and rugged exterior enhance his performance of the unsmiling, combatant portrayal of Tuvia. This high profile actor has the handsome, manly, mysterious look with an element of danger that supports the image of the real Tuvia Bielski. Although there is little written account on the real Tuvia’s nature or personality at the time, Edward Zwick creates this strong, reliable and intense character in casting Daniel …show more content…

He is deeply saddened and left feeling quite helpless after the violent death of his parents and other members of the Belarusian community. In reality, Jamie describes himself as a “hard-mouthed North-eastern man”. Raised as a talented ballet dancer with a strong work ethic and subsequently cast in the hugely successful Billy Elliot, Bell has played predominantly youthful and adventurous roles as he did in The Adventures of TinTin. With Bell’s small, lithe build, he is quintessential for the part of Asael. Asael’s sensitive character in Defiance leaves the audience is then left feeling sorry for the youngest and concern for him as he is chased by the Nazi’s and is missing in action. The audience experiences this overlayed tension with that brief sense of guilt by the older brothers that is in contrast with their tough

The Power of Literature Hideous and atrocious acts have been committed throughout time; however, none of them are more despicable than the Holocaust. It was during this time that roughly six million Jews were systematically murdered by the Nazis. It is a piece of history that is taught in millions of classrooms across the world. There are various ways of telling this chilling tale and for the most part, it is presented in a factual, history book-type lesson. This can be interesting and beneficial; however it leaves human emotion out of the story and with so many emotions involved refusing to convey them would only be telling part of the story.…

Perhaps the most dreadful event in recent history is the tragedy that befell the world during the Holocaust. Throughout a twelve year period, the Nazis were able to wreak havoc and torture innocent people purely because of their “inferiority”. The Nazi ideology was rooted in the idea that the German race was superior to all, and this state of mind was behind all of the atrocities that took place in Germany and surrounding areas. While the majority of the worst travesties took place during the final years of the holocaust, there was a significant build-up to those events, which took place throughout the years from 1933 to 1938. During these years, the Nazis began to show their true intention to the world, and began their systematic persecution…

One might say I’ve experienced my share of fright, heartache, and disappointment in life. Born in 1940 in Berlin, Germany to a very strict Jewish family, it seemed as though my life was destined to be like any other European Jew at that time: deathly persecution by the ever-present population of anti-semites in Europe. Shortly after the Adolf Hitler rose to power in 1933, my parents, older sister, and I fled to live with my great aunt in Barcelona, Spain. Looking back on that event, I consider myself greatly blessed to have fled from the evil and persecution of the Nazis, for many Jews didn’t have that privilege. Even at a young age while living in Spain, I often felt feelings of guilt, for many of my fellow Jews were being killed by the thousands each day.…

The Holocaust was one of the most devestating events throughout history with an estimate of around six million deaths.
