There are a lot of gut-healing tonics and supplements out there, but you should keep it simple to start. That's why I recommend two things: turmeric and fermented foods.

Turmeric

According to a study published in Food & Function, curcumin (turmeric) is a powerful anti-inflammatory, immunomodulator, and healer of oxidative stress. Preclinical studies in laboratory animals have shown turmeric to be effective in preventing or ameliorating the inflammation of ulcerative colitis. Numerous studies have been done on the causes and effects of Ulcerative Colitis in the body that ultimately begin and progress through the large intestine. These studies have led to information that allows physicians to help their patients control the symptoms of this disease and enable them to lead a normal life. However, through the research that has been done no significant information has led to the cure of this disease or what truly causes it in the first place. The cause for this disease must be determined to allow prevention and there must be research leading to the cure of this disease; not only treatment to reduce the symptoms and manage the disease. This paper will examine the research done on Ulcerative Colitis to determine the steps…

Leaky Gut Syndrome Hippocrates is quoted to have stated, “All disease begins in the gut.” More and more, this ancient theory is beginning to make way in modern medicine, giving deeper meaning to “Let thy food be thy medicine, and thy medicine be thy food” (also Hippocrates). Thus, leaky gut, or intestinal permeability, a condition relatively new in the medical field yet to be recognized by all or understood in its entirety, has been sparking quite the interest in integrative medicine as of the last decade. As the symptoms of this proposed homeostatic imbalance often correlates with other autoimmune disorders affecting the gut mucosa, such as Crohn’s disease and Celiac’s disease, detection is difficult as well as the epidemiology. To be expected,…
