In this poem, the persona has denounced the justice system and explains how lady liberty is suppose to play a role in our society. Otherwise, lady liberty is a symbol for freedom in the United States. According to the poem, (lines 1-3) the persona exemplifies, “excuse me but lady liberty needs glasses and so does mrs justice by her side both the broads r blind as bats”. Moreover, Shakur is saying that Lady Liberty and Mrs Justice are not doing what they are symbolized to do. Not to mention, in (lines 7-8) this an example of personification; is a figure of speech in which an object, entity, or a non human portrays human qualities. Thus, this is a personification because lady liberty and mrs justice are non humans but represent human values.
