Unfortunately, Tupac’s step dad, Mutulu Shakur, was sentenced to 60 years of prison after the horrendous and infamous incident of an armored car bank robbery. Tupac had a very tough childhood, growing up in the ghetto, and dealing with poverty and violence. Things changed in 1984, when he turned twelve, and got enrolled in Harlem’s 127th Street Repertory ensemble, and was drafted as the “Travis Young” character in the play “ A Raisin In The Sun”. Shakur soon later soaked up in dance, and learned many forms of it, but then he discovered rap. In 1986, his family moved to Baltimore. Tupac won many rap competitions accompanied by his close friend Dana “Mouse” Smith, who beatboxed, which took place in the Baltimore School For The Arts, where he studied poetry, acting, ballet and jazz. Tupac went to two different high-schools before Baltimore, Paul Laurence Dunbar high-school, and Tomalpais high-school.
