Tupac began his music career as a rebel with a cause to articulate the travails and injustices endured by many African Americans. Leila Steinburg was Tupac’s very first manager, they had a close relationship, but Leila didn’t know a lot about the music industry nor have many connections. Leila introduced Shakur to what would be his second manager, Atron Gregory. Gregory got Tupac on as a roadie with Digital Underground, he appeared on a few songs and videos then sprang off on his own getting signed with Interscope where he would release his first album called “2Pacalypse Now” on November 12, 1991 which went platinum. On September 7, 1996 Shakur went to see a Mike Tyson fight with Suge at the MGM Grand, after the fight Tupac had gotten into a fight with Orlando Anderson who was a known South Side Crip. Later that night Suge and Pac followed Shakur’s bodyguard Frank, they were headed to the 662 club where they planned to party. Stopped at an intersection on the Vegas strip, a white Cadillac pulled up and fired 14 into the vehicle Tupac and Suge were in. Tupac was rushed to the University Medical Center where he underwent surgery and spent 6 days on life support until his mother decided to have the plugs pulled on September 13, 1996 at 4:03 p.m. Tupac was only 25 years old. Tupac said during an interview, “the only thing that can kill me is death, that’s the only thing that’ll ever stop me and even then, my music will live forever” and he was right. In 1996 Shakur was the crown prince of West Coast rap, he emerged as a boldly honest, startlingly prescient voice poised to change the game forever, which he did he just didn’t live to see it. He is one of the top-selling artists of all time with over 75 million albums sold to this date, a total of 11 platinum albums have been released, 4 during his career and 7 more after his death. “The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory” was the first album to be released Tupac was the first artist to reach No.1 on the Billboard while serving a prison sentence.
