I began to play when I was eight years old, as my parents wanted me to develop other interests besides simply playing sports and video games. At first, I was hesitant about learning an instrument. The thought of playing the piano sounded dull and “uncool” for a person my age at the time. I protested, but from the moment my fingers first touched the keys and I realized that I was able to create beautiful sounds, I readily embraced the challenge of learning something…

The piano, as beautiful as it sounds, needs practice before it can sound lovely. Professional pianists study the piano for years upon years before they are able to perform in concert. I have played the piano since second grade and I have played other instruments since that time, but have always returned to the piano because I believe it to be one of the most challenging instruments of all. Since the second grade, when my parents decided I would need to learn and instrument, I chose the piano and attended lessons given by a neighbor who happened to be a Christian piano teacher. Christmas parties and recitals at my own church were held and at such a young age, I was only slightly captivated by my own playing, but the older students, who were a great deal better than I was, their playing mesmerized me at every piano gathering I attended.…
